Jason Ou

Second-year Finance student

Tampa, Florida
I’m Jason Ou, a finance major at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, and I owe my work ethic and resilience to my hardworking Chinese immigrant parents. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but my early years took me to various places, including China, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and ultimately Tampa, Florida, where I completed high school. Moving frequently due to my parents’ successes and challenges in managing Chinese take-out restaurants, I was exposed to a wide range of cultures and environments, which has given me a diverse perspective and adaptability. Spending much of my childhood helping in my family’s restaurant taught me the value of dedication and sparked my interest in understanding business and finance as I observed my parents’ efforts to build a future. My background in a small business environment has shaped my aspirations to pursue a career in consulting. I am passionate about learning, solving complex problems, and applying my knowledge to help other businesses grow and overcome obstacles. I aim to leverage my background to contribute to diverse teams, bring innovative solutions, and support small businesses through consulting. As a first-generation student, I’m also committed to advocating for those from similar backgrounds, creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
